Kuwaiti Tourist Robbed, Injured After Pattaya Bar Encounter

PATTAYA, Thailand – A Kuwaiti tourist has reported being robbed of cash and a mobile phone after allegedly being taken to an isolated area near Pattaya Beach following an agreement to meet for a sexual encounter. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering evidence to identify the suspect. The incident was reported on July 18 at around 8:30 p.m. near Pattaya Beach close to the entrance of Walking Street. The victim told Pattaya City Police that he had been drinking at a bar in Pattaya before walking along the beach, where he met a person believed to be a Thai woman or transgender person. According to his statement, the two spoke before agreeing to continue together. The suspect then allegedly took the tourist by motorcycle toward North Pattaya before turning into a quiet alley. The tourist said that while he was intoxicated and sitting beside the road, the suspect allegedly grabbed his cash of 20,000 baht and a Samsung Galaxy Y mobile phone. He said he attempted to resist but was unable to stop the robbery and was assaulted before the suspect fled on a motorcycle. Following the incident, the tourist went to Pattaya City Police Station to file a complaint and request legal action against the suspect. Police have questioned the victim, inspected the reported scene, and coordinated with investigators to collect evidence. Officers are checking CCTV cameras along routes believed to have been used during the escape in an effort to locate and arrest the suspect.
