SC: Affidavits of Desistance Cannot Dismiss Trafficking Cases
The Philippine Supreme Court ruled that affidavits of desistance from victims, especially minors, in human trafficking cases are "highly suspect" and cannot be grounds for dismissal. This strengthens victim protection by preventing coerced or influenced retractions by perpetrators.
