Cambodia Cracks Down on Gangs and Gamblers, Arresting 119 in Early September

The Ministry of Interior of Cambodia has reported a rigorous crackdown on juvenile delinquent groups and gamblers, with no exceptions to legal proceedings. In the first 10 days of September, a total of 119 individuals were apprehended and sent to court for legal processing. This figure shows an increase of 2 cases and 33 individuals compared to the same period in early August. According to the Ministry of Interior's report, out of the total offenses, 22 cases of juvenile delinquency were suppressed, resulting in the arrest of 103 individuals who were subsequently sent to court. This number represents an increase of 19 individuals compared to the first 10 days of August. Case files have been built and sent to the provincial courts for further legal action. Separately, authorities cracked down on 4 gambling-related cases, apprehending a total of 16 individuals. Of these, 14 were sent to court, while the other 2 received warnings and signed agreements to cease their activities. Compared to August, gambling cases increased by 2, and the number of individuals apprehended rose by 14. This intensified enforcement is seen as a reflection of the government's commitment to maintaining public order and social stability within the country. It is expected that such measures will continue to address issues related to youth delinquency and the societal problems associated with gambling.
