No. 8 Down DEMU train running on Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw route hit by stones, glass cracked

It is reported that the No. 8 Down DEMU train running on the Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw route was hit by stones, causing its window glass to crack. Myanma Railways is operating high-speed passenger trains with new air-conditioned DEMU carriages to ensure that passengers can travel more comfortably. On the night of September 4, the No. 8 Down Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon DEMU high-speed passenger train arrived at its final destination, Yangon Central Station, and as it departed for the workshop (Insein) to take over the train, it was hit by stones from the right side of the track. As a result, the side window glass between seats 3A, 3B and 4A, 4B of the second carriage, the first-class carriage DEMU F-4030, was broken by about two inches, causing the glass to shatter and crack, it was reported. As the incident occurred when the No. 8 Down train had arrived at its final destination and was departing for its parent workshop, only the engine driver and the mechanical maintenance team were on board. The incident was discovered only after arriving at the workshop (Insein), and a case has been filed at the relevant Insein Township Police Station to apprehend the culprits and take action in accordance with the Railway Transportation Business Law. Similarly, according to Section 79 (b) of Chapter 18 of the Railway Transportation Business Law, which was promulgated on January 5, anyone who throws an object at a train or commits any act against it shall be punished under Section 84 with imprisonment for a term of not less than 5 years and not exceeding 20 years, and may also be fined. It is understood that further action will be taken in accordance with the law, and the government is undertaking upgrades to ensure that the public can travel smoothly, and the public needs to cooperate and maintain it.
