Airlines to resume operations at Mandalay International Airport

It is known that flights will resume at Mandalay International Airport. Myanmar Airways International (MAI) announced that flights to and from Mandalay city, and flights via Mandalay, will resume starting September 13. MAI issued a statement on the evening of September 10, announcing that all international flights arriving at or departing from Mandalay International Airport would be temporarily suspended until further notice due to operational reasons. During the period when Mandalay International Airport was temporarily closed, airlines had to make stops at Pin U Lwin (Pang Sang Airport). The government has announced that Mandalay International Airport (Tazaung Airport) in Mandalay city was attacked by six FPV suicide drones. On the afternoon of September 10, PDF joint forces attacked the public-use Mandalay International Airport (Tazaung Airport) and its surrounding areas in Tazaung Township, Mandalay Region, with six FPV suicide drones. Security forces on air security duty detected these drones with air defense systems and were able to intercept them with drone defense measures. Security forces carried out the systematic neutralization of explosives and destructive materials carried by the drones to ensure public safety. It is known that due to this attack, some domestic flight routes were temporarily suspended, but there were no casualties, vehicle damage, or runway damage in the incident.
