New Smiles! 7 Bicycles and School Supplies Donated to Needy Orphanage in Koulen Tboung Commune
In Preah Vihear province, Cambodia, local authorities and residents collaborated to donate 7 bicycles and school supplies to children from impoverished families to prevent them from dropping out of school. This initiative aims to support their learning motivation and hopes.
In the Koulen Tboung Commune of the Koulen District, Preah Vihear Province, a heartwarming initiative took place on July 18, 2026, to support children facing the risk of dropping out of school due to financial hardship. Ms. Hem Sokunpisey, Director of the Provincial Department of Information, and Mr. Sun Kosal, Chief of Koulen Tboung Commune, led their teams in visiting and directly delivering aid to children at their homes. The donations included 7 bicycles and a significant amount of school supplies, clothing, and other essential items. These contributions are intended not just as mere bicycles or school materials, but as a "great source of encouragement" to alleviate the heavy burden on parents and guardians, and to bolster the children's spirits to continue their studies smoothly and with hope. The charitable effort saw contributions from Ms. Sokunpisey, who donated one bicycle and some school supplies; Mr. Kosal, who donated six bicycles; and Mr. Sam Lean Tey, Director of the Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, who provided seven school bags along with study materials and necessary personal items. Mr. Pen Chhun, the Governor of Koulen District, also contributed an additional 100,000 Riel (approximately $25 USD). This meaningful gesture created new smiles and renewed hope for underprivileged families, enabling them to push their children towards receiving an education comparable to other children in the community.
