Under the revised plan, commercial electricity is expected to reach about 500.4 – 557.8 billion kWh by 2030; and about 1,237.7 – 1,375.1 billion kWh by 2050. Domestic electricity generation and electricity imports are projected to reach about 560.4 – 624.6 billion kWh by 2030; and about 1,360.1–1,511.1 billion kWh by 2050. The Government expects that peak capacity would increase to about 85,655 MW by 2030; and about 202,732 – 228,570 MW by 2050. Regarding energy transition, the Government plans to boost renewable energy development to increase the share of renewable energy (excluding hydropower) to around 28 – 36 percent by 2030; and 74 – 75 percent by 2050. By 2030, onshore wind power capacity is projected to reach 26,066 MW (in comparison with Viet Nam's total technical potential of about 221,000 MW). Offshore wind power capacity to serve domestic electricity demand will reach about 6,000-17,032 MW by the end of this decade; and 113,503 – 139,097 MW by 2050./.
