MANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) may persist to bring occasional rains over parts of Luzon, although it is forecast to dissipate within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said Thursday. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Leanne Loreto said during a morning briefing that the LPA, located east of the country, may cause scattered rains, particularly in the afternoon and evening, over northern and central Luzon. These rains might be accompanied by thunderstorms, Loreto added. However, she clarified that there are no indications of widespread heavy rains or severe weather conditions associated with this LPA.
