Lanao del Sur governor’s nephew leads race for 3rd District BARMM seat
Abdul Rauf Adiong, nephew of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr., is poised to win the 3rd District seat in the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, leading by a significant margin with 92.38% of election returns counted.
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Abdul Rauf Adiong, nephew of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr., is on the verge of winning the province’s 3rd District seat in the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections. As of Monday, September 14, 9:59 pm, with 92.38% of total election returns counted, Adiong has secured 54,454 votes. He holds a significant lead over his closest competitor, independent candidate Edrieza Rimbang, who has garnered 19,521 votes. Jamel Ditucalan Macaraya, a bet from the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, is in third place with 7,347 votes, while independent candidate Sittie Saleha Mangurun trails with 285 votes. Both Macaraya and Rimbang are former members of the Bangsamoro Parliament. Mangurun previously served as a barangay chairperson of Malinao in Tagoloan. Adiong ran under the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party, the party of his uncle. He is the son of Ditsaan-Ramain Mayor Ansaruddin Abdul Malik Alonto Adiong and the grandson of the late former Lanao del Sur governor Mamintal Adiong Sr. – Rappler.com
