Member of Parliament Rashdi Adiong currently holds a commanding lead in the 9th District of Lanao del Sur in the Bangsamoro parliamentary elections, with the transmission of results nearing completion. As of Monday, September 14, 10:29 pm, with 93.82% of precincts reporting, Adiong has garnered 33,812 votes. This puts him significantly ahead of his closest competitor, Anwar Galo-Lamping, a former municipal councilor in Lumba-Bayabao and the bet of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, who has secured only 5,855 votes. Trailing behind is Jalal Abdul Bayabao, an Islamic scholar and the Bangsamoro Party bet, with 4,183 votes. Adiong, who hails from the influential Alonto-Adiong clan, ran under the banner of the Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo Party (SIAP), which is led by Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. and his son, Lanao del Sur Vice Governor Mohammad Khalid Adiong. This electoral outcome highlights the ongoing influence of prominent political families within the Bangsamoro region. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) was established in 2019 with the aim of fostering peace and strengthening self-governance, but regional political stability and economic development remain key objectives.
