Cambodia Invites Investors to Explore New Opportunities at China-ASEAN Business Summit
Cambodia highlighted new investment opportunities at the China-ASEAN Business Summit amidst global uncertainties and supply chain realignments. The nation urged businesses to consider Cambodia as a base for expanding production and operations into regional and global markets, citing growing China-ASEAN trade and investment.
On the morning of Tuesday, the 4th day of the waning moon of the month of Phassaph, in the year of the Rabbit, the 8th year of the Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to September 1, 2026, His Excellency Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Committee, representing His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), presided over and delivered a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the 2026 China-ASEAN Business Summit. During his remarks at the opening ceremony, His Excellency the Secretary General noted that in the context of a world facing uncertainty, geopolitical shifts, and the reorganization of global supply chains, opportunities for cooperation still exist. Therefore, he stated, the China-ASEAN Business Summit should be a platform that "transforms dialogue into cooperation and cooperation into tangible investment opportunities." Concurrently, His Excellency the Secretary General also highlighted the excellent relations between ASEAN and China, the growth in trade and investment between ASEAN and China, as well as the increase in trade volume between Cambodia and China and Chinese investment in Cambodia over the past few years. What Cambodia wishes to see further is increased connectivity between foreign investors and local enterprises, so that investments not only create factories and jobs but also foster knowledge and technology transfer, human resource training, and greater value creation within the country, thereby helping Cambodia to integrate more deeply into regional supply chains. Furthermore, His Excellency the Secretary General informed the attendees that for long-term investment to flourish, the Royal Government of Cambodia has been and continues to implement measures to address issues directly affecting costs and ease of doing business. These include human resource training, reducing trade and investment costs through the improvement of essential physical infrastructure, and strengthening the one-stop service mechanism of the Council for the Development of Cambodia to provide easier, faster, and more efficient services to investors. This also encompasses the use of digital technology systems for registering investment projects, combating online crimes, and other related measures. As the institution responsible for private investment, the Cambodian Investment Committee is always ready to welcome, facilitate, and support investors, not only at the decision-making stage but throughout the entire investment cycle in Cambodia. Cambodia calls on business people and investors to continue exploring new investment opportunities in Cambodia and to consider Cambodia as a base for expanding production and business to regional and global markets.
