Cambodia's Ministry of Health Discusses Expanding Long-Term Cooperation with World Vision International
Cambodia's Ministry of Health met with the international NGO World Vision International to discuss strengthening their over 56-year partnership and expanding cooperation for the 2028-2032 strategic plan. Enhanced collaboration in maternal and child health and nutrition was a key focus.
His Excellency Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, granted a meeting to a delegation from World Vision International Cambodia, led by Dr. Than Thi Ha, Country Director ad interim. The meeting, held on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Ministry's headquarters, aimed to pay respects and discuss work to further expand the long-standing cooperation between the two entities. The discussion also covered progress reports on the organization's work implementation and sought high-level recommendations from the Minister to guide the organization's strategic plan for 2028-2032, ensuring alignment with national health priorities. During the occasion, His Excellency the Minister warmly welcomed the delegation and highly valued the over 56 years of cooperation between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the organization in contributing to the development of the national health system, particularly in maternal and child health and nutrition. Dr. Than Thi Ha expressed her deep gratitude and reported on the achievements of the 2023-2027 national strategy implementation, which has covered 20 provinces and cities (84% of the country) with an investment of over US$13 million. She affirmed a strong commitment to continuing close cooperation with the Ministry of Health to improve the well-being of mothers, infants, and children in Cambodia. His Excellency the Minister provided five key recommendations to guide the work: 1. Transform successful community models into standard models for nationwide implementation. 2. Strengthen the capacity of health officials, midwives, and Village Health Support Groups (VHSG). 3. Expand resilient and sustainable health service models. 4. Integrate nutrition monitoring data into the national digital health data system. 5. Develop the organization's 2028-2032 strategic plan through close consultation and cooperation with the Ministry of Health. Source: AKP Khmer
