Cambodia Red Cross Donates $100,000 to China for Second Time

The Cambodian Red Cross (CRC) has once again provided humanitarian aid amounting to $100,000 USD to the Chinese Red Cross to support disaster relief operations in China. The symbolic handover ceremony took place at the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh on September 16, 2026, with the funds being transferred through the embassy. This marks the second time this year that the CRC has extended such a donation to China, following an initial contribution of $100,000 USD in August. In addition to its support for China, the CRC has also provided another $100,000 USD through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to aid flood victims in Nepal, near the China-Nepal border. During the ceremony, the Secretary-General of the Cambodian Red Cross conveyed profound condolences and solidarity from CRC President Bun Rany Hun Sen to the Chinese people affected by natural disasters. She emphasized that while the financial contribution may not be substantial, it represents the deep empathy and willingness of the Cambodian people to share in the hardships of their Chinese counterparts. Ambassador Wang Wenbin of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia expressed his sincere gratitude for the CRC's timely and repeated assistance. He noted that the first donation was publicly acknowledged in China, garnering significant public appreciation. Ambassador Wang highlighted that the value of aid lies not in its monetary amount but in the humanitarian spirit and mutual support demonstrated during challenging times. He also recalled his personal visit to flood-affected families in Tboung Khmum province, Cambodia, where he offered modest personal assistance. Furthermore, the Cambodian Red Cross expressed its desire to collaborate with the Guangxi Branch of the Red Cross Society of China, particularly in areas of first aid training and capacity building for CRC officials. Ambassador Wang fully supported this initiative and pledged to facilitate its progress. The Chinese Ambassador reiterated his firm commitment to continuously support and cooperate with the Cambodian Red Cross, promising to endeavor to share and assist with any necessary requirements requested by the organization.
