Phnom Penh Authorities Announce Temporary Suspension of Businesses Around High School Exam Centers

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – Authorities in Phnom Penh have announced a temporary suspension of certain business activities around 36 high school examination centers to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the 2025-2026 academic year high school exit examinations, scheduled for August 10-11. The Phnom Penh City Administration stated that this measure is aimed at guaranteeing the smooth progression, security, safety, order, transparency, and public decorum around the 36 examination sites within the capital. Specifically, copy shops, internet cafes, and all types of stationery businesses located near the examination centers will be temporarily closed from August 9 to 11. Additionally, restaurants, eateries, and construction sites are also instructed to halt their operations during the same period. Other business locations and construction sites situated near the examination premises are prohibited from causing noise or engaging in activities that could disrupt the candidates' examination process. However, tourists staying in hotels, apartment buildings, guesthouses, or temporary rental homes around the examination centers will be permitted to enter and exit as usual. Furthermore, the bicycle and motorcycle parking services organized by the authorities at the examination centers will be provided free of charge. The municipal authorities are requesting the understanding and cooperation of the public and all business owners regarding this measure. Business operations can resume as normal after the examination period concludes. This notification has been issued to the Director General of the Phnom Penh City Hall, the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commissioner, the Phnom Penh Military Police Commander, all 14 district administrations, relevant line ministries, and affected business operators, with instructions for effective and highly responsible implementation.
