Phnom Penh Authorities Advise Businesses Near Exam Centers to Temporarily Suspend Operations

Phnom Penh authorities have issued a directive advising businesses located near the 36 high school examination centers in the capital to temporarily suspend their operations to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the national graduation exams. The exams for the 2025-2026 academic year are scheduled to take place over two days, from August 10-11, 2026. The directive outlines five key points for businesses operating in the vicinity of the examination sites: 1. Copy services, internet cafes, and all types of school supply stores are to temporarily cease operations from August 9-11, 2026. 2. Restaurants, eateries, and construction sites are also to temporarily suspend activities during the same period, August 9-11, 2026. 3. Other businesses and construction sites near the examination areas are prohibited from causing noise or engaging in activities that could disrupt the exams from August 9-11, 2026. 4. Tourists staying in hotels, apartment buildings, guesthouses, or temporary rental housing around the examination centers will be permitted normal entry and exit. 5. The motorcycle and bicycle parking services arranged by authorities at the examination centers will be provided free of charge. The Phnom Penh administration urges the public and affected business owners to understand and cooperate with these measures. Normal business operations can resume after the examination period concludes. The notification has been disseminated to relevant municipal departments, police, gendarmerie, district administrations, and related ministries for effective implementation.
