Medan Police Officer's IDR 1 Billion Aid Claim Found to be AI-Generated Hoax

Indonesian media outlet Liputan6 has confirmed that a video circulating on social media, claiming a police officer in Medan, North Sumatra, received IDR 1 billion (approximately USD 65,000) in aid from Australia, is an AI-generated hoax. The video features a police officer standing in front of a church, stating: "Shalom, beloved brothers and sisters. I am Abraham, from Medan, North Sumatra, one of the recipients of a fund from Pastor Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty amounting to IDR 1 billion. Praise God, I have received it successfully. For my sisters and brothers out there who want the pastor's number, you can contact me directly." Accompanying text adds: "Shalom Hallelujah, Sir/Madam. Thank you for the DAP Australia aid funds distributed by Pastor Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty. May this aid strengthen us all to keep hoping and remain united. Let us use it wisely and continue to support each other as one family in faith. God bless you all 🙏." Liputan6's fact-checking team utilized the AI detection tool Hive Moderation.com to analyze the video. The results indicated that the video was 99.9% AI-generated, with the audio being 76.4% AI-generated and the deepfake level reaching 85.5%. Furthermore, an investigation into the official Instagram account of Pastor Jacklevyn Frits Manuputty (@jackymanuputty), who is allegedly involved in distributing the funds, found no information regarding any IDR 1 billion aid provided to a police officer named Abraham, as depicted in the video. Based on these findings, Liputan6 concluded that the claim of a Medan police officer receiving IDR 1 billion in aid from Australia is false.
