Cambodia and Vietnam Strengthen Transport Cooperation, Discuss Highway Connectivity

On the morning of September 4, 2026, at the invitation of Mr. Tran Hong Minh, Minister of Construction of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, led a Cambodian delegation to a bilateral meeting with the Vietnamese Ministry of Construction to strengthen and expand cooperation in the transportation sector between the two countries. The meeting focused on: 1. Road transportation 2. Waterway transportation 3. Connection points for expressways between the two countries. Both sides pledged to continue their good cooperation by further strengthening and expanding transport infrastructure to contribute to achieving the bilateral trade target of US$20 billion in the future, as previously agreed upon by the heads of government of both countries, based on the principle of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability."
