General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam has concluded official visits to France and Russia, aiming to strengthen ties and foster cooperation in various fields. These high-level engagements are seen as strategic moves to enhance Vietnam's diplomatic presence on the international stage and bolster its economic growth. In France, President To Lam held talks with President Emmanuel Macron, reaffirming the commitment to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Emphasis was placed on cooperation in advanced technology sectors such as space technology and semiconductor research, highlighted by his visit to a Thales Group research center in a science and technology cluster near Paris. This underscores Vietnam's focus on innovation and investment in high-tech industries. He also met with Fabien Roussel, Secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF), expressing hope for continued contributions to building political trust and promoting cooperation between the two countries. During his visit to Russia, President To Lam and President Vladimir Putin discussed the importance of scientific and technological cooperation. The long-standing collaboration of the Joint Vietnam-Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Centre and Russia's support in building a laboratory for disease prevention and control were cited as prime examples of practical bilateral cooperation. President To Lam was honored with the "2026 Lev Tolstoy International Peace Prize" at the Kremlin, signifying Vietnam's international recognition within its relationship with Russia. These visits to Europe and Russia reflect Vietnam's strategy to diversify its partnerships and enhance economic resilience, moving away from over-reliance on a single economic power.
