19 Myanmar nationals arrested for illegal entry in Thailand's Sangkhlaburi and Mae Sot districts

Fifteen Myanmar nationals who illegally entered the country were arrested by a joint Thai security force near the forest edge in Ban Sam Lang village, Sangkhlaburi district, Kanchanaburi province, Thailand, according to a statement from Thai authorities. Around 9:30 PM on July 4, security officials at the Nam Kiet joint checkpoint in Sangkhlaburi district were patrolling the forest edge and border forest paths near Ban Sam Lang village when they received information about illegal migrant workers entering the country. They conducted searches and investigations based on this tip, it was learned. Upon searching and investigating, Thai authorities discovered 15 Myanmar nationals, comprising 4 men and 11 women, who had illegally entered the country in a forested area. They were arrested because they could not present any legal entry or residency documents for Thailand, it was learned. Currently, the arrested 15 Myanmar nationals have been charged with illegal entry and overstaying in Thailand and are being detained. They have been transferred to the Sangkhlaburi district police station for legal action, it was learned. Similarly, four Myanmar nationals who illegally entered the country were arrested by a joint Thai security force near the forest edge close to a shop along the border in Mae Sot district, Tak province, Thailand, according to a statement from the Tak province Immigration Department. Around 12:00 PM on July 3, an investigation team from the Tak province Immigration Department and security forces jointly searched areas along the border to prevent illegal border crossings and illegal entries. During these searches, four Myanmar nationals who had illegally entered and were hiding in the forest behind a shop in the Tha Sai Luat village group, Mae Sot district, were discovered and arrested, it was learned. According to the interrogation by Thai authorities, the four Myanmar nationals admitted that they had illegally entered the country through natural border routes without any legal entry permits or visa stamps, it was learned. Currently, the arrested four Myanmar nationals have been charged with illegal entry and overstaying in Thailand without permission. They have been transferred to the Tak province Immigration Department for legal action and deportation back to Myanmar, it was learned.
