9 Bangladeshis Detained in Phnom Penh for Illegal Stay During Administrative Inspection

In Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, authorities in the Por Senchey district have detained nine Bangladeshi nationals suspected of illegal stay during an administrative inspection of a rental property. They have been sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters for questioning and legal proceedings. The operation took place around 4:30 PM on July 20th at rental house number 748, Street 68, Chamkar Ou Lerk 1 Village, Kakap 1 Sangkat, Por Senchey District, Phnom Penh. The authorities were conducting administrative checks on various houses and buildings as part of a nationwide crackdown on crimes, particularly online scams, as ordered by the government. During the inspection of the rental house, no online scammers were found. However, nine Bangladeshi men were discovered residing together in the house. Upon inspection by the authorities, it was found that some of the Bangladeshi men did not possess passports, while others had expired travel documents. Consequently, they were detained and transferred to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Headquarters for further legal action.
