Stung Treng Police Crack Down on Armed Drug Trafficking Ring, Arrest 17 Suspects
Stung Treng Provincial Police in northeastern Cambodia have launched a major operation against an armed drug trafficking ring, arresting 17 suspects. Evidence including methamphetamine and a pistol was seized. The operation, conducted under the governor's directive, lasted several days.
In Stung Treng Province, northeastern Cambodia, provincial police have conducted a major investigation and crackdown operation against an armed drug trafficking ring, leading to the arrest of 17 suspects. The operation also resulted in the seizure of numerous pieces of evidence, including narcotics and a firearm. The operation took place from July 31 to August 2, under the direct command and execution of Major General Sarith Botsat, Commissioner of the Stung Treng Provincial Police. Following directives from Governor Sor Soputra and procedural coordination from the Prosecutor of the Stung Treng Provincial Court, specialized forces conducted investigations that culminated in the apprehension of the 17 suspects. During the operation, authorities confiscated evidence including approximately 212.85 grams of methamphetamine (ICE) in five packages (one large, four small), about 6.2 grams of methamphetamine (WY) in 145 dissolved pills, two drug scales, one K54 pistol with four bullets, and one car and twelve motorcycles. Two of the seized motorcycles were returned to their rightful owners. Currently, the 17 suspects and related evidence are being processed by the specialized office of the Stung Treng Provincial Police, with case files being prepared for referral to the Stung Treng Provincial Court Prosecutor for further legal proceedings.
