Ilocos Norte Town Inaugurates P10-M Super Health Center, Boosting Healthcare Access

Residents of Nueva Era town in Ilocos Norte now have enhanced access to primary healthcare services with the inauguration of a P10-million Super Health Center. The facility, funded by the Department of Health (DOH) under its Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) for fiscal year 2023, was turned over and inaugurated on Tuesday (Sept. 8). The DOH in the Ilocos Region led the ceremony, which was a collaborative effort between the DOH and the Nueva Era local government, with support from Ilocos Norte Second District Rep. Angelo Marcos Barba. The center is designed to serve as an advanced primary care hub, offering diagnostic services, outpatient care, pharmacy services, and emergency maternal and medical care. Officials stated that the facility will help overcome geographical barriers to healthcare, reducing the necessity for residents to travel to distant cities for medical consultations and basic health services. The inauguration ceremony was led by Rep. Barba, John Lee Gacusan, DOH-Ilocos Norte Provincial Health Team Leader, and Nueva Era Mayor Aldrin Garvida. Mayor Garvida emphasized the local government's commitment to improving health infrastructure and bringing essential services closer to grassroots communities. He highlighted that expanding and decentralizing healthcare services is crucial for building healthier and more resilient communities in Ilocos Norte.
