Prabowo Urges New Civil Servants to Prioritize Public Interest

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has strongly urged newly graduated civil servants to prioritize the interests of the people above their own or those of specific groups. He delivered this message during the graduation ceremony for the 33rd cohort of the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN). Speaking at the IPDN campus in Jatinangor, West Java, on Wednesday (29/7), President Prabowo stated, "The people demand state apparatuses that prioritize the interests of the people, not personal or group interests." He emphasized that civil servants are the face and symbol of the state. The president highlighted that the attitudes and appearances of these public servants symbolically reflect whether the state is present to protect them. Therefore, he noted that the task of being a civil servant is not easy, and the people will judge whether the state is worthy of trust based on their decisions. President Prabowo called on all new civil servants to perform their duties to the best of their abilities, suggesting that their efforts would influence public trust. He warned that disappointing the people would damage not only their personal reputation but also the public's trust in the state itself. "If you disappoint the people, what is lost is not just your name, but the people's trust in the state. You, we have great aspirations. Indonesia is a great nation," he concluded.
