New 'Techo' Building Inaugurated at Alliance Française in Siem Reap
A new 'Techo' building has been inaugurated at the Alliance Française in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The facility is set to serve as a hub for human resource development, intercultural dialogue, and arts education, contributing to Cambodia's preparations to host the Francophonie Summit later in 2026.
The 'Techo' building of the Alliance Française in Siem Reap Province was officially inaugurated and put into operation on the afternoon of July 24, 2026. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Dr. Chiuv Yisang, Chairman of the Senate Commission for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Information, representing H.E. Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia. On this occasion, H.E. Dr. Chiuv Yisang stated that this new achievement is a testament to the significant role in human resource development and serves as a space for intercultural dialogue and arts training for Cambodian youth. The Alliance Française in Siem Reap has set a roadmap focusing on five key areas: 1. Education and the French language, 2. Culture and heritage, 3. Tourism and local development (such as training for tour guides), 4. International influence, and 5. Creativity and digital technology. What is even more special is that the inauguration of the 'Techo' building is part of Cambodia's preparations to host the 20th Francophonie Summit at the end of 2026. This is a historic event marking the return of the summit to the Asia-Pacific region after nearly 30 years. By: Chan Sophon (Source: Senate)
