Cambodia strongly urged for a renewed global commitment to peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to international law during an open debate at the United Nations Security Council. In New York, on July 23, 2026, Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Keo Chea, addressed the high-level open debate on "Strengthening Mechanisms for Peaceful Conflict Resolution: Follow-up to Security Council Resolution 2788 (2025)." He reiterated Cambodia's unwavering commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means, dialogue, diplomacy, and respect for international law, a stance previously affirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, in his statement to the Security Council last May. Ambassador Keo Chea highlighted four key priorities: First, strengthening the role of the UN in preventive diplomacy. Second, ensuring that conflicts are resolved through peaceful means and in compliance with decisions of international courts. Third, reinforcing the unity and impartiality of the Security Council.
