ACS Manufacturing Taps ACEN for Clean Power Transition

MANILA, Philippines — ACEN Corp. will energize two facilities of ACS Manufacturing Corp., the company behind known household brands, as the latter starts its shift to clean electricity. The Ayala-led firm said ACS has tapped its retail electricity supply arm, ACEN RES, for its switch to renewable energy. READ: Federal Land taps ACEN RES for 100% renewable power The deal covers its key manufacturing plants in Laguna, with electricity sourced from ACEN’s portfolio of solar, wind and geothermal power assets. ACS manufactures classic household products, such as Pride Detergent, Shield Bath Soap and Unique Toothpaste. With this move, ACEN said ACS could avoid the emission of an equivalent of about 4,270 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. “We see this as a way to enhance our operational efficiency while tangibly reducing our carbon footprint,” said Mai Supetran, CEO of ACS. The transaction was made possible through the government’s retail competition and open access (RCOA) and the retail aggregation program (RAP). RCOA enables participants that use at least 100 kilowatts (kW) a month to buy lower-cost electricity from retailers other than the existing suppliers in their area. RAP, meanwhile, enables households and smaller consumers who share a common area to consolidate their demand in order to meet the threshold volume.
