Cambodia Courts More Chinese Investment, Highlighting Incentives and Supply Chain Opportunities
Cambodia is intensifying efforts to attract Chinese investment, with its Deputy Prime Minister highlighting competitive incentives, infrastructure development, and supply chain opportunities at an investment roundtable in Xiamen. This move aligns with Cambodia's strategy to integrate into regional and global economies.
Cambodia is stepping up its efforts to attract additional Chinese investment. At the Cambodia Investment Roundtable held in Xiamen, China, on September 9, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, Sun Chanthol, highlighted the country’s attractive investment incentives, infrastructure development, and opportunities within regional and global supply chains. The event, held on the sidelines of the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), brought together Cambodian government officials, private sector representatives, and potential investors from the Xiamen region for information exchange and the exploration of practical opportunities. Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol cited Cambodia’s peace, political stability, macroeconomic balance, and open policies towards foreign investors as strengths of its investment climate. He also elaborated on competitive incentive packages, strategic infrastructure projects, and priority sectors that support Cambodia’s integration into regional and global supply chains. Representatives from the Cambodian Oknha Association shared their experiences regarding company registration, taxation, labor regulations, and supply chain cooperation. Wang Shuangtao, Vice President of Wanli Stone, a Chinese company invested in Cambodia, also shared his company’s investment experience, offering a practical example for Chinese entrepreneurs. Approximately 40 institutions attended the meeting, including leaders from Fujian Province and Xiamen Municipality, commerce and foreign affairs officials, industry associations, major enterprises, and media. The roundtable concluded with business discussions and matchmaking sessions, providing a platform for Cambodian officials and entrepreneurs to engage directly with Chinese companies on potential projects. This initiative is part of Cambodia’s broader strategy to expand investment attraction, strengthen economic ties with China, and position itself as a destination for businesses seeking opportunities within regional and global supply chains.
