President Prabowo Inaugurates Extended LRT Jakarta Line to Manggarai
President Prabowo inaugurated the extended Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) line, connecting Kelapa Gading to Manggarai. This expansion is expected to further modernize public transportation in Jakarta.
President Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated the extension of the Jakarta Light Rail Transit (LRT) service to the Manggarai area. This expansion officially connects the LRT from Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta to Manggarai in South Jakarta. Prior to the inauguration, President Prabowo personally experienced the LRT Jakarta by riding it from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai, stating, "Today we gather for a proud event, the inauguration of the LRT Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai route." He expressed his comfort during the ride, saying, "It's nice to ride the LRT." The LRT Jakarta is operated by PT Jakarta Propertindo, while the 6.4-kilometer track from Velodrome to Manggarai was built by state-owned construction company PT Waskita Karya. Initially, the LRT operated on a shorter route from Kelapa Gading to Velodrome, spanning approximately 5 kilometers since 2019. The extended line to Manggarai now includes five stations: Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, Proklamasi, and Manggarai. All LRT Jakarta stations are designed for seamless integration with other public transportation modes. Notably, Manggarai Station offers direct integration with the KRL Commuter Line, Transjakarta bus services, and the airport train connecting to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. This development is expected to enhance the modernization of Indonesia's public transportation system, particularly in Jakarta, which serves as a hub for economic, governmental, and cultural exchange.
