Cambodia to Utilize UNCLOS Compulsory Conciliation for Maritime Dispute with Thailand

Cambodia has initiated the use of the 'Compulsory Conciliation' mechanism under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to resolve its long-standing maritime boundary dispute with Thailand. Following Thailand's unilateral withdrawal from the 2001 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Cambodia has stated its intention to pursue a resolution in accordance with international law.
