Cambodia's 2026 Minimum Wage Expected to Surpass Regional Peers

In 2026, the minimum wage for workers in Cambodia's textile, garment, footwear, and travel goods/bags manufacturing sector is projected to reach approximately $229 in total, including a base wage of $210 and various benefits. This figure excludes overtime pay and other additional allowances. According to a report from the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, Cambodia's total minimum wage surpasses that of several key manufacturing countries, including Sri Lanka ($93), Myanmar ($97), Bangladesh ($102), Laos ($114), Pakistan ($143), India (approximately $192), and Vietnam (ranging from $147 to $211 depending on the region). Mr. Sun Messa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, emphasized that Cambodia is committed to improving the living standards of its employees. He stated that the government aims to maintain a balance between the interests of workers, the capabilities of employers, and the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector. Furthermore, the spokesperson highlighted that beyond wages, Cambodian workers also benefit from the social security system, which includes healthcare, work-related accident coverage, pensions, and various other allowances. These benefits help reduce the financial burden on workers and strengthen their income security.
