Indian Navy Ship to Dock at Ream Naval Base, Following Russian and Canadian Vessels

The Indian Navy warship INS Kulish is scheduled to dock at the Ream Naval Base in Preah Sihanouk province on the night of September 11, 2026. This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian naval vessel to a Cambodian naval base. According to a press release from the Indian Embassy in Cambodia, this official visit highlights the increasingly robust bilateral maritime partnership between India and Cambodia, and reflects a shared commitment to professional naval cooperation. The visit takes place during the "ASEAN-India Maritime Cooperation Year 2026," an agenda established by the leadership of both sides to expand cooperation in maritime security, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief (HADR), and the blue economy. In this context, the ship's visit further strengthens India's commitment to building stronger maritime partnerships with ASEAN member states, including Cambodia. In recent years, India and Cambodia have continuously expanded their defense and maritime cooperation, including joint exercises and training. The upcoming visit of INS Kulish to the Ream Naval Base is seen as a continuation of this strengthening process and demonstrates the mutual benefit of developing a more robust and institutionalized maritime partnership. This docking of an Indian naval vessel follows the arrival of the Russian ship "Baltic" at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on the morning of September 11. Additionally, the Canadian Navy ship HMCS Regina is scheduled to dock at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on September 22, 2026.
