Boy Drowns After Falling Into Drain While Retrieving Ball in Mingalataungnyunt

Ayeyarwaddy Times September 12 In Mingalataungnyunt Township, Yangon Region, the body of a child who went missing after falling into a drain while retrieving a ball has been found, according to the fire brigade and local residents. The incident occurred around 5:14 PM on September 12, when a six-year-old boy fell into a drain on Pho Myar Road, Pho Myar Ward, Mingalataungnyunt Township, and was swept away by the water current while trying to retrieve a ball. Following the incident, the Mingalataungnyunt Township Fire Station, along with a rescue vehicle, firefighters, and social welfare organizations, launched a joint emergency search for the child swept away by the water. During the search, the child's body was discovered at 7:48 PM, and it was reported that the Thapyay Kone Ward Social Welfare Association transported the body to Yangon General Hospital. Similarly, on the evening of September 7, a 14-year-old boy was swept away by the water current in Tamwe Township, at the intersection of 155th Street, while trying to retrieve his sandal during heavy rainfall and flooding.
