Myanmar President Concludes State Visit to Cambodia, Pledging Enhanced Bilateral Ties

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation this morning issued a press release on the Outcome of the State Visit of H.E. U Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on Sept. 11-12, 2026. The full press release reads as follows: H.E. U Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, paid a state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on September 11-12, 2026, at the invitation of His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. During the visit, President U Min Aung Hlaing held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace. The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and international affairs. Both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in various fields, such as trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure development. They also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of security and defense, as well as to promote people-to-people exchanges and cultural understanding. On regional cooperation, both leaders underscored the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and security in the region. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting ASEAN's centrality and its efforts to promote regional integration and connectivity. President U Min Aung Hlaing and Prime Minister Hun Sen also exchanged views on current international issues of common concern. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for the two leaders to reaffirm their commitment to further strengthening the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries. President U Min Aung Hlaing extended an invitation to Prime Minister Hun Sen to visit Myanmar at a mutually convenient time. Prime Minister Hun Sen accepted the invitation with pleasure. President U Min Aung Hlaing concluded his state visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on September 12, 2026.
