Cambodia's Ministry of Justice Refers Provincial Court Procedure Violation Allegations to Disciplinary Council

The Ministry of Justice of Cambodia has decided to forward a complaint alleging procedural violations by judicial officials at the Stung Treng Provincial Court to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy. The complaint was filed by Mr. Sleh Furt and Mr. Noh Solath. Mr. Aim Chanmora, Secretary of State and spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, stated on September 10 that the individuals concerned had directly filed a complaint with the Supreme Council of the Magistracy, alleging procedural irregularities in the handling of their case at the Stung Treng Provincial Court. According to the spokesperson, after reviewing the complaint, H.E. Kiet Rith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, decided to forward the case through the established procedures to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy for thorough examination and investigation. The Ministry of Justice emphasized that if the investigation finds that the officials involved have committed errors or acted contrary to the law and procedures, they will be dealt with according to the law and the disciplinary mechanisms of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy. In parallel, the Ministry of Justice has also appointed a working group to conduct further on-site investigations into the case to clarify the process and the implementation of related procedures. The findings of the Ministry of Justice's working group will be submitted to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy to serve as additional basis for inspection and action within their competence. This decision indicates that complaints regarding the procedural implementation by judicial officials at the Stung Treng Provincial Court will undergo examination and disciplinary procedures by the competent institutions, based on investigation results and related evidence, before any official decision is made.
