Cambodian Police Bust Online Scam Hub, Arrest 8 Vietnamese Nationals

Sveay Rieng Provincial Police have searched and cracked down on a location suspected of being an online scam operation in Bavet City. This operation was conducted following the high-level order from National Police Chief General Sok Thet and Sveay Rieng Provincial Governor Peng Possa regarding the implementation of a campaign to crack down on online scams throughout Sveay Rieng Province. On July 26, 2026, under the direct command of Major General Pich Virak, Director of Sveay Rieng Provincial Police, along with specialized police forces in cooperation with the Bavet City Police Inspectorate, and with the coordination of Mr. Dora Ang Pratean, Deputy Prosecutor of the Provincial Court, the forces conducted a search of a rented villa located in Bavet Kandal Village, Bavet Commune, Bavet City. The search led to the arrest of eight suspects, three of whom are women, all Vietnamese nationals. Seized items included All-In-One desktop computers, mobile phones, and other related equipment. Currently, the suspects and evidence are being processed by the specialized police force and will be sent to the Provincial Court for legal proceedings.
