Phnom Penh District Undertakes Major Drainage System Upgrade

In Cham Chao 3 district, Posenchey, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, a large-scale drainage system upgrade is underway to improve living conditions and combat flooding during the rainy season. On the afternoon of September 3, 2026, the district chief, Mr. Va Savoeun, along with Deputy Chief Mr. Suth Sochet and their team, inspected the Prey Tueda 1 village to oversee the installation of the new drainage system. Mr. Va Savoeun stated that under the direction of Mr. Sok Chankanya Rith, Governor of Posenchey District, the project aims to prevent rainwater flooding during the monsoon season by installing a new drainage system for the collective benefit of the local community. The excavation and installation of the new system will cover a length of 108 meters with a cross-section of 0.60 meters. He further added that the funding for this new drainage system comes from the budget of the Cham Chao 3 district administration and contributions from generous donors. On behalf of the entire administration, the district chief expressed his gratitude to all the philanthropists who have supported this initiative with their financial contributions. This infrastructure development in the rapidly urbanizing outskirts of Phnom Penh is seen as an effort to mitigate the impact of underdeveloped infrastructure on residents' lives and to promote more sustainable urban development.
