Iran's New Ambassador to Cambodia Pledges to Boost Bilateral Cooperation
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi, the new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Cambodia, on September 10. The ambassador expressed enthusiasm for strengthening bilateral cooperation, and the Prime Minister conveyed expectations for further relationship development.
On the morning of September 10, 2026, at the Peace Palace, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received a courtesy call and held discussions with His Excellency Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Cambodia. During the meeting, His Excellency the Ambassador highly valued the relations between the two countries and emphasized his commitment to further promoting bilateral cooperation. He expressed interest in exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation in several sectors. In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated His Excellency Akbar Ghasemi Ali Abadi on his appointment as Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Prime Minister noted the good relations between the two countries and expressed confidence that His Excellency's diplomatic tenure would contribute to the further development of cooperation between the two nations. Concurrently, the Prime Minister welcomed the Ambassador's commitment to seeking new opportunities that will further boost bilateral cooperation and encouraged him to hold further discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.
