Bureau of Customs July Collections Hit Record High

THE Bureau of Customs (BoC) said July collections hit a record posted P95.85 billion, exceeding its target by 4.7%. In a statement on Monday, the BoC said the July haul was also 12.5% higher than the P85.18 billion collected a year earlier. This brought collections in the seven months to July to a record P587.71 billion, 2% above the year-to-date target and 8% higher than the P543.95 billion collected a year earlier. “The strong preliminary results reflect the agency’s sustained efforts to strengthen revenue collection through enhanced customs procedures, intensified border protection measures, digital transformation initiatives, and closer collaboration with stakeholders,” the BoC said. “The achievement likewise reinforces the BoC’s commitment to supporting the administration’s economic and fiscal agenda while facilitating legitimate trade and ensuring efficient service delivery,” it added. The seven-month collections represented 58.1% of the agency’s revised P1.011-trillion collection target for the year. “Malaking karangalan para sa BoC na makapagtala ng pinakamataas na buwanang koleksyon at pinakamataas na January-to-July collections sa kasaysayan nito (It’s a great honor for BoC to post record July and seven-months totals),” Customs Commissioner Ariel F.
