Cambodia Conducts Maintenance on Automated Weather Stations in Siem Reap

A team of specialists from the Department of Meteorology under the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has conducted inspections, repairs, and maintenance on automated weather stations located within Siem Reap province. This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of monitoring and forecasting weather conditions. During this activity, which took place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, the team of technical specialists directly performed technical work at three automated weather stations: 1. Varine Station: Located in Kanchonrun village, Prasat commune, Varine district. 2. Banteay Srei Station: Located in Banteay Srei village, Khna Sanday commune, Banteay Srei district. 3. Prasat Bakong Station: Located in Bangkau village, Ampil commune, Prasat Bakong district. The technical team inspected all measuring instruments and the Data Logger system to ensure that data transmission to the server was proceeding smoothly, as well as for data retrieval and storage. Additionally, the team replaced SIM cards, batteries, and modems, repaired and replaced spare parts, and changed batteries in the Data Logger devices. They also inspected equipment measuring rainfall, temperature, humidity, wind direction, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure. Finally, the team cleared vegetation and cleaned the entire station area to prevent interference with the signal reception of the equipment.
