President Prabowo Inaugurates New LRT Jakarta Section

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the new Kelapa Gading-Manggarai section of Jakarta's Light Rail Transit (LRT) on Wednesday (16/9). The inauguration ceremony was attended by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Deputy Governor Rano Karno, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, and several ministers from the "Merah Putih" cabinet. Prabowo officially opened the LRT, which is said to be capable of transporting up to 80,000 passengers daily. This modern mode of transportation will offer a special fare of Rp 8 for eight days starting from Thursday (17/9). Before the inauguration, Prabowo had a chance to try out the LRT, accompanied by ministers and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. Following the trial, Prabowo and Pramono attended the inauguration ceremony held at Manggarai Station. In his remarks, Governor Pramono stated that the Jakarta LRT was fully built by the regional-owned enterprise Jakpro and entirely funded by the regional budget (APBD). He mentioned that the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT Jakarta section is 12.2 kilometers long. "The investment is Rp 12.1 trillion. Each trainset carries 270 passengers, and the plan is, Mr. President, if this is operational, it will transport approximately 80,000 passengers daily," Pramono said. Pramono also conveyed that the LRT will later be extended from Kelapa Gading to the Jakarta International Stadium in North Jakarta, and from Velodrome to KCIC Whoosh Station. "It would be even more encouraging if Danantara could also assist us, Mr. President," he added.
