Digital Skills Empower Border Communities in Lang Son

Digital skills are becoming an integral part of daily life in the mountainous border communities of Lang Son Province in northern Vietnam. Continued investment in digital literacy, particularly for the elderly, ethnic minority communities, and residents in remote areas, is essential to ensure they can confidently access and benefit from online public services. Efforts to streamline administrative procedures are also gaining momentum. Thanh Hoa Province, for instance, has introduced AI kiosks to enhance the efficiency of administrative processes. These reforms are contributing to improved services for citizens and businesses, with approximately 700 administrative procedures having been abolished to date. Under Vietnam's one-party system, promoting digitalization across society is a key component of national strategy. To maintain and accelerate economic growth, it is crucial for every citizen to possess the ability to utilize digital technologies. Support for rural and ethnic minority communities, where information gaps have been noted, is particularly significant in rectifying economic and social disparities within the country. Furthermore, the advancement of digitalization in border regions like Lang Son, which shares a long border with China, is noteworthy not only for revitalizing economic activities but also for expediting information dissemination and maintaining security.
