Prey Nob District Administration Holds Strategic Meeting on Clean Water Resource Management
Prey Nob District in Cambodia convened a strategic meeting with relevant provincial departments and commune authorities to discuss clean water resource management. Key outcomes included immediate flood mitigation measures and long-term plans for water resource preservation and storage to ensure supply during the dry season.
The Prey Nob District Administration in Preah Sihanouk Province, led by Governor Yi Tharin, held an inter-ministerial meeting on July 28, 2026, with representatives from the Provincial Department of Water Resources and Meteorology, the Department of Rural Development, the Department of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and the authorities of all 10 communes within the district. Governor Yi Tharin stated that the district administration is actively implementing strategic measures, encompassing both immediate responses and long-term plans. The immediate measures focus on addressing the challenges of the rainy season's floodwaters. Specialized forces and heavy machinery are being deployed to excavate and clear drainage canals, remove weeds, mud, and debris that obstruct water flow, thereby ensuring rapid water discharge. For the dry season, a strategic plan is in place to prepare for water security. This involves restoring and stocking water in community reservoirs and ponds to guarantee sufficient reserve sources for daily consumption by residents and for agricultural activities during the upcoming dry period. Furthermore, the District Governor appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the authorities by refraining from discarding waste or other debris into canals. He urged active participation in maintaining community water sources and improving environmental hygiene, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness and fostering proactive engagement for the collective benefit of the locality.
