Cambodia Enhances Journalism Skills with AI Training for Digital Future

The Cambodian Journalists Club (CCJ), in collaboration with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Digital Governance Institute of the Royal University of Phnom Penh's Digital Technology Academy, has launched a training course for journalists titled "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Future of Digital Journalism in Cambodia." The program, held on July 28, 2026, at the Digital Governance Institute, saw the participation of 153 journalists from 82 media institutions. The training aims to strengthen journalists' capacities on the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, provide an overview of Cambodia's AI ecosystem, discuss the risks and challenges associated with AI use, and outline how to utilize AI ethically and to its maximum benefit. This initiative is designed to enhance work efficiency, including capabilities in content creation, news writing, content editing, and the production of images, audio, and short videos. The training will help make news content production richer and faster. Participants will learn to use AI for data searching and analysis, and employ technological tools to identify fake news or deceptive images/videos (deepfakes). This is in response to the rapid evolution of technology and contributes to building human capital in the digital journalism sector, aligning with the vision of the Digital Government Policy of Cambodia 2022-2035.
