Retaining wall collapses in Mogok due to heavy rains, some houses damaged and injuries reported

In Mogok, a retaining wall collapsed on the morning of August 5 due to heavy rainfall, resulting in damage to some residential homes and injuries, according to the Parami Nar Rescue Association. The incident occurred in Panma Ward, West Ward, Mogok City, Mandalay Region, where heavy rains caused the retaining wall to collapse on the morning of August 5. As a result of the incident, two houses were damaged and one person sustained injuries. The West Ward Reserve Fire Brigade, the Red Cross Society, and the Lokahita Association jointly responded to the scene to provide assistance. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has also issued a notice stating that natural disasters, including landslides and retaining wall collapses, can occur in mountainous regions, including Mogok, during the rainy season when heavy rains fall. Therefore, residents living on hillsides and near retaining walls need to exercise extreme caution and remain vigilant.
