AI Summary

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) has achieved a historic first, with three students graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the same cohort. This marks a significant milestone since the university's shift to the credit-based system, highlighting achievements in nurturing top talent within Vietnam's higher education.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) announced on September 10 that for the first time in its history, three students have graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA in the same cohort. This marks a historic achievement since the university adopted the credit-based system and the 4.0 grading scale in 2007. The three students who achieved this perfect score are Le Nguyen Ngoc Vu from the Mechatronics Engineering program, Truong Ngoc Hai from the Computer Engineering program, and Luu Cong Toan from the Control and Automation Engineering program. All three maintained exceptionally high standards not only in their academic performance but also in their student conduct, scoring between 95 and 99 out of 100. To achieve a 4.0 GPA, students must score 8.5 or above on a 10-point scale in all their subjects. Vu, Hai, and Toan are also the first to attain a perfect score in their respective fields of study. HUST has seen perfect GPA graduates before. In 2024, students from Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering achieved this distinction. Last year, a student from the Vietnam-France Information Technology program also graduated with a perfect GPA. At the graduation ceremony in September, along with Vu, Hai, and Toan, five other students were honored as valedictorians from different departments. HUST holds two graduation ceremonies annually. In the May ceremony, approximately 3% of over 3,000 graduates achieved excellent grades, while 16% were rated as good. This September ceremony saw over 3,400 students graduate. Under Vietnam's one-party system, nurturing top talent in education is a key pillar of national development strategy. The emergence of such outstanding graduates is noteworthy from the perspective of cultivating future human resources who will drive technological innovation and economic growth.
