Phnom Penh House Fire: Electrical Shortage Suspected Cause

A wooden house located along the Ou Veng canal in Kilometre 6 village, Russey Keo district, Phnom Penh, was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out on the afternoon of Sunday, July 26. The incident occurred at approximately 11:35 AM. Following the fire, Mr. Chin Bunthoeun, Governor of Russey Keo district, ordered the district's unified command forces to cooperate with the fire prevention, extinguishing, and rescue office of the Phnom Penh Municipal Police in responding to the incident. According to reports, the homeowner had left the house prior to the fire, with only a nephew inside. The blaze quickly spread, alarming nearby residents who assisted in extinguishing efforts and called for multiple fire trucks. According to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police's fire prevention, extinguishing, and rescue office, seven fire trucks were dispatched to the scene. Five trucks from the office used 18 cubic meters of water, one vehicle from the Russey Keo district hall used 8 cubic meters, and one truck from the Gen Sbott company used 4 cubic meters. The fire was extinguished at 12:05 PM on the same day. Police further stated that the fire completely damaged one wooden house with a corrugated iron roof, measuring 4 meters by 15 meters, along with some household belongings.
