A fire completely destroyed a Lexus CT200h on the night of July 27, 2026, around 9:37 PM, near the base of the Chroy Changvar Bridge in Sarachok village, Dong Penh district, Phnom Penh. Fortunately, the driver and any passengers were unharmed. According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle, a white Lexus CT200h with license plate Phnom Penh 2BC-1302, was traveling along Monivong Boulevard towards the Ta Prohm roundabout. As it approached the Chroy Changvar Bridge area, smoke began to emanate from the front of the car, quickly escalating into a fierce blaze. The driver managed to exit the vehicle promptly and retrieve personal belongings, ensuring their safety. Following the incident, local residents alerted the authorities. Firefighters from the Phnom Penh Municipal Police responded with one fire engine and successfully extinguished the flames. Authorities are investigating the cause and suspect that "an electrical short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire." This incident occurred in a busy area near a key transportation hub, potentially causing temporary traffic disruptions.
