Prabowo Grants One Month Deadline for Nutrition Program Beneficiary Review

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to review the beneficiary list for the Free Nutritious Meal program (MBG) within a one-month deadline. This directive appears to be a measure to enhance the program's transparency and efficiency. Agustina Arumsari, Deputy Head of BGN, acknowledged that the number of beneficiaries might decrease. However, she did not specify the exact reduction amount at this time. "We have been given another month by the president to further refine the governance. With the results of this review from 62.7 million beneficiaries, I am confident it will automatically follow," Arumsari stated. This suggests a more stringent selection of program recipients. Prima Yosephine Hutapea, Deputy for Systems and Governance at BGN, assured that the agency would re-evaluate all data and beneficiaries of the MBG. "We will re-review all data. Then, together with the leadership, we will re-establish the targets and the most important indicators to be included," Arumsari added. Additionally, BGN announced the new Echelon 1 officials recently appointed by President Prabowo Subianto through a Presidential Decree. These include the Secretary General, Deputy for Systems and Governance, Deputy for Supply and Distribution, Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation, and Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision. The Free Nutritious Meal program is a crucial social welfare policy, especially for children from low-income families or those at risk of malnutrition.
