Kampong Cham City, Cambodia, has officially signed a contract with waste management company CINTRI on July 21, 2026, concerning the management of waste, following a successful pilot implementation that began in 2023. The signing ceremony took place at the Kampong Provincial Hall, presided over by HE Un Chantha, Governor of Kampong Cham Province. The event was attended by the Mayor of Kampong Cham City, a representative from CINTRI, deputy mayors, heads of relevant ministries and departments, commune chiefs, and technical officials. Under the contract, CINTRI is committed to increasing transportation means, equipping additional modern facilities, and hiring more staff to ensure timely collection of waste from roadsides and public areas. The company will establish regular schedules and waste collection vehicles for each commune and street, preventing prolonged waste accumulation that leads to odor and loss of aesthetics. A rapid response team will be created to promptly address any disruptions or complaints from residents regarding waste issues. During the occasion, HE Un Chantha, the provincial governor, urged the Kampong Cham City administration to actively seek investment partners for waste management, turning it into a source of revenue for the city. He further stated that this contract renewal is a significant step towards enhancing the city's aesthetics. Therefore, CINTRI must strictly adhere to the agreed-upon contract conditions with high responsibility, ensuring complete and timely waste collection to guarantee that Kampong Cham remains a clean city, free from waste congestion, and worthy of its title as a model tourist city that has repeatedly won the "Beautiful City, Rumdul Three Flowers" award.
