Cambodia Strengthens Logistics Sector to Boost International Competitiveness
Cambodia held its 11th National Logistics Council meeting to discuss key tasks including the collection of logistics performance indicators, the development of a logistics dashboard, and the drafting of a logistics law. The aim is to strengthen the national logistics system and enhance integration into regional and global supply chains.
On the morning of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Chairman of the National Logistics Council (K.Ch.P.), led the 11th K.Ch.P. meeting. This high-level meeting was attended by His Excellency Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport and Chairman of the National Logistics Council (K.Ch.P.), along with His Excellencies, Ladies, and Gentlemen, Vice Chairpersons, Members of K.Ch.P. and the National Logistics Council (K.Ch.P.), representatives from the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, the Cambodia Logistics Association, as well as numerous skilled officials and representatives from the relevant private sector. The 11th meeting was organized with the objective of reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the progress of three key tasks: 1. Collection of Logistics Performance Indicators (2.0) 2. Development of the Logistics Dashboard 3. Drafting of the Law on "Logistics" In addition to reviewing the progress of the aforementioned work, the meeting also discussed and set new strategic directions aimed at orienting and improving the national logistics system and transportation in Cambodia to be more competitive and strongly integrated into regional and global supply chains. During the discussions, the meeting received active participation and exchange of views from the members, reflecting significant strategic inputs for efficiently and effectively advancing the work with a spirit of cooperation and high responsibility, jointly aiming to promote the development of the national logistics sector with progress and sustainability. On this important occasion, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the fruitful outcomes of the meeting with the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) held on July 6, 2026, at the autonomous port of Sihanoukville. The meeting at that time thoroughly reviewed and discussed various indicators related to export-import transportation, which EuroCham had collected, organized, analyzed, and compared with neighboring countries in the region, aiming to find solutions to reduce costs and increase the speed of Cambodian transportation. As the Chairman of K.Ch.P., His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his profound gratitude and high appreciation for the efforts and close cooperation between all member ministries and institutions that have actively contributed to supporting the inter-ministerial and institutional working mechanism, as well as opening up close cooperation with the private sector to jointly address challenges and create new opportunities for the national logistics sector.
